Kamakura

We took the train from Ueno to Kamakura which took about an hour at a cost of (800) yen. Here is a picture of the train station at Kamakura.

First we walked up Komachi Dori, the 'Shopping Town'. This has hundreds of shops and places to eat, and is so long that it would take 10-15 minutes to walk through even if you don't stop along the way. However, you're bound to stop quite a number of times to check out the interesting stores, so you need to allow a few hours really.

Our first destination was the Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu Shrine which is about 10-15 mins walk from the station if you don't detour through Shopping Town.

After Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, we retured back to town by walking along the Danzakura pedestrian walkway.

Visit Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu Shrine. This important shrine, dating back to 1063, is a popular site for weddings and other events during the year.

Take the Enoshima Electric train from Kamakura to Fujisawa and visit the Diabutsu.
